The Transition Implementation Committee (TIC), chairman, Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, Hon. Tunde Fadipe has likened his Alma mata,  University of Maiduguri to an institution were discipline is blend with academic curriculum.

The multiple award winning local government chairman stated this on Saturday during the maiden reunion get together dinner of the Kwara chapter of University of Maiduguri Alumni Association held at Triumph Hotel & Suit, Ilorin, Kwara State.

Fadipe, a mechanical engineering graduate of the University said UNIMAID remain the only institution in Nigeria that can make student’s aspirations to become fruition and reality.

“I think UNIMAID is just a school that has a blend of discipline with academic curriculum and that makes the school difference from other universities in Nigeria. For every body you see here today must have passed through a stage of discipline before we could get our certificate. And that is the difference.

“I know and I am very sure that the school still sustain that legacy. If you look at my person, I would say UNIMAID actually made me. I would point to the fact that in 2022, I was the best performing chairman in Kwara State and in 2023, the Ministry of Health under Primary Health Care came out with an award to say I came top in Health Care Management in Kwara South.

” Three were picked across states and that shows that the University of Maiduguri has been able to turn out into the society quality human resource to help the development of society. I can mention some of our graduates that are doing exceedingly well. So  culture of performance has been a normal thing in UNIMAID, ” the TIC chairman affirmed.

He further added that the track record of  graduates from the University of Maiduguri speaks for them each time they hold public service, lauding the performance of Borno State Governor, Prof. Babangana Sulum, saying he has made the University proud.

“For everybody from UNIMAID, you will see that quality and excellent when they have opportunity to hold public service. Babagana Sulum was my lecturer, look at what he has been able to do. So I feel  fulfilled. UNIMAID has made me. That is the only institution that can mode you to become what you want to be.

” I am very delighted to be here. The fact is I was a student union leader while in school and it shows that with persistent and commitment, it is possible to achieve what you want to achieve in the Nigerian society.

“I introduced some of my friends to the culture of students Unionisms and today, some of them are also in politics doing well. So I feel so great and happy. Today we are able to come together as a family. There was never division in our midst. We are the most fortunate generation that graduated from that school, ” ebullient Isin LG chairman said.
